Nomination Criteria for the Quiver Award

The Quiver Award, introduced in 2021, recognises exceptional individuals who are ‘game-changers’ in business ethics across Africa. This award honours those who push boundaries, drive transformative change, and set new ethical standards in their respective fields.

Nomination Criteria:

  1. Innovative Ethical Leadership
  • Demonstrates bold and innovative approaches to ethical challenges in business or governance.
  • Pioneer new ethical frameworks, policies, or initiatives that inspire change.
  1. Significant Impact and Transformation
  • Has led or influenced groundbreaking reforms that enhance ethical business practices.
  • Contributes to measurable improvements in corporate governance, social responsibility, or sustainability.
  1. Advocacy and Influence
  • Actively champions ethical business practices at national or continental levels.
  • Uses platforms such as research, policy advocacy, or mentorship to drive ethical awareness.
  1. Sustained Commitment and Legacy
  • Has a track record of sustained influence in business ethics over time.
  • Leaves a lasting legacy through ethical leadership, education, or institutional change.

Additional Considerations:

  • Nominees should have at least 5 years of demonstrable impact in ethical business leadership.
  • Nominations must include supporting evidence, such as testimonials, case studies, or references.

This award seeks to celebrate individuals who redefine ethical business landscapes and serve as catalysts for positive change in Africa.

Joaquim Mabuiangue
Joaquim Mabuiangue(2025)
Joaquim Mabuiangue has emerged as one of Mozambique’s most dedicated champions of ethics and integrity, making significant contributions to the field of business ethics in Africa. Serving as Ethics Officer at a leading Mozambican university, Joaquim has worked tirelessly to institutionalise ethics as a cornerstone of governance, leadership, and academic practice.
Equally important, Joaquim has prioritised capacity building and ethical literacy. He has designed and implemented training sessions for management, administrative staff, and students, ensuring that ethics is not confined to policy documents but becomes a lived practice across the institution. His training methods – participatory, case-based, and context-sensitive – have enabled participants to grapple with real-world dilemmas and strengthen their ethical decision-making skills.
Joaquim has also been an active public advocate for ethics, using public platforms to raise awareness and promote dialogue about integrity in education and business. His contributions to conferences, social media posts, and sectoral workshops have positioned him as a thought leader advancing ethics beyond institutional boundaries into the wider national and regional discourse
Alice Nkulikiyinka

Mrs. Alice Nkulikiyinka is the Country Director of Business Professionals Network Rwanda (BPN Rwanda), a Swiss international Foundation that fosters entrepreneurship worldwide. Prior to returning to her home country, she worked close to fifteen years in the banking sector in the renown Swiss firms Telekurs (Six Group) and Avaloq. As Project Manager, Product Manager and Head of department, she managed international teams in Zurich, London and New York City, among other places. On expatriate contract, she also managed Banking projects in Hong Kong and Singapore. Alice Nkulikiyinka is a Board member of RDB (a government institution whose mandate is to accelerate Rwanda’s economic development by enabling private sector growth that reports to the President’s office) and a Board member of I&M Bank (A leading commercial Bank).
Dyna Ishimwe Operations Manager of Bee Light Rwanda
Dyna Ishimwe is a model of outstanding business ethics.

Being a homegrown business that focuses on developing skills in members of the local communities of Rwanda and using locally sourced materials to produce high quality products, Bee Light needed a manager who could exemplify social and environmental responsibility while ensuring the business grows sustainably. Dyna Ishimwe joined us in 2018, as a fresh graduate in the capacity of an operations assistant. From there, Dyna rose to the occasion to tackle every small challenge with such sincerity and diligence, she has helped to expand Bee Light into an independent and successful business.
In every aspect of her responsibilities, Dyna personifies the values of our company : ‘Respect for oneself. Respect for others. Respect for the environment. Respect for the material’. Dyna understands the principles of zero-waste and recycling that Bee Light works towards, and applies them to the daily functioning of the work-space.

Naiole´s long-term concern and focus has been Corporate Governance as she sees it as the other side of compliance and Business Risks and one of the main reasons for weak foreign investments in her home country of Angola. Therefore, she Co-founded the Angola Corporate Governance Association (ACGA) with a mission to help change mentalities.
